New England/Canada out of Boston vs. NYC Cost?

Late last year we booked a cruise to New England and Canada out of Manhattan. We wanted to book out of Boston because the port is a closer drive for us but it would have been twice as much.  Just curious if anyone knows why?

Supply and demand I’m guessing. If you’re looking strictly at NCL, the ship out of Boston is smaller with less capacity. Also, balconies might be at a premium since the ship out of Boston has considerably less .
