Thank you both for your input. Both of you made great points.  We actually have four other tours booked with RIL - two walking tours and a Post Cruise tour in Rome and the Pisa/Florence one.  I have found Jany fabulous to work with and will consult her accordingly.

We did Pompeii on our own and enjoyed it.  But there are places that are so remarkably enhanced by some information and knowledge ... and Pompeii is one of them.  I can't wait to take a guided tour in October when we dock in Naples.
