What is above the aft location on the aloha deck and can one go from the very back of the ship up stairs to what exactly?

I cant quite seem to figure out the area and we are booked at the very back of aloha on the port side. Seems like if we cant go anywhere we will be in no mans land however if we can hop upstairs to something cool it maight be a great location.

Also how rough shpould we expect the seas to be coming back into sf.

Thanks everyone for your excellent advise.

those stairs take you up to the Riviera Deck (pools)...and further up to the Lido Deck (Horizon Court) and sunning areas.........and down as far as the Pomenade Deck.

No one can accurately predict what the seas will be like on any particular day.

As noted above, you can never tell what the seas will be like, but the usual for that route is fairly rough – especially since the rest of the itinerary tends to be very smooth. Things may be different depending on time of year and your luck.

That deck, at the end of the Aloha cabins, is a quiet, little used place for sunning and watching the moonlight over the ships wake. If you go up the stairs you end up on the Riviera deck near the Gym. You can travel forward and get to the Riviera pools or you can go through the sliding doors into the gym, straight ahead and up a short staircase into the Oasis pool. Stairs on either side of the Oasis pool take you up to the Lido Deck and the Oasis bar.

Those stairs are a little known shortcut to the Gym and the Oasis bar and pool from the rear aloha cabins. That deck is also important as you go under the golden gate. You can start at the front of the ship and head towards this deck as the ship travels under the bridge. After you pass the bridge, there are some great shots off this deck towards the bay (eastward) since the sun is setting in the west.

The trip on the way back from Cabo will be rougher than going down. You are fighting a current that goes north to south. But rough is relative. In January one year we were hitting 14 ft seas on the way up the coast. Last October it was about 3-4 foot seas. It just depends.

BTW, on the trip back from Cabo to SD, keep an eye out for the various little islands you will pass on the way. I didn't know they were there. Take your binoculars.

Have a great trip.
