Looking for a reasonably priced hotel in San Diego.

I can't drive so where I stay can't cost an arm & a leg to get anywhere.

Any/all recomendations/suggestions would be appreciated.

In Jan. of 05 we stayed at Bayside Super 8 which was very reasonable - they have a shuttle to the airport and also the pier. It is nothing fancy but was clean and the people at the front desk were very helpful. It is in the Little Italy section of San Diego close to many good Italian restuarants - Flippis being my favorite. You can see the ships from the upper floors. They were undergoing construction so the place may have changed some.

Other people I know have stayed at the Best Western Bayside which is somewhat more expensive but nicer than Super 8. And there is a Holiday Inn right across the street from the pier.

The Days Inn on Pacific Highway is ver good. Transportation to the cruise

dock is complimentary. If you look on your computer and find either

Pacific Inn & Suites or Marina Inn & Suites beware. They offer a low rate

on the internet and raise it when you get there. It doesn't matter that

you reserved at the low rate. They run a bait & switch con. We all make

a big effort for our cruises and deserve a good hotel to start

I second what Mared 1 says about the Bayside Super 8. Nothing fancy but clean. They were still working on the addition when we stayed there on 23 Feb 06. Construction didn't start until 0800 and the noise wasn't a problem. Complimentary shuttle service from airport and to the port. The port is only appoximately 3 blocks away(easy walking distance) We could see Mercury arrive into port from our room. The Hotel is right in Little Italy area with lots of restaurants. We also ate at Fillipe"s and had a great meal. The tram is within easy walking distance which connects with the Gas Lamp district and many other tourist attractions. Very reasonable rates.
