SnorkelAway Posted April 27, 2023 Author #3 Share Posted April 27, 2023 Yes - I thought it good for people to see a specific warning by a reputable source.
Lorenky Posted May 21, 2023 #4 Share Posted May 21, 2023 Hi we're just reading this and were thinking of going here on an excursion in April 2024. . Is the contamination all the time or is this just something to be avoided right now? Thanks

Thanks One has been told, If it rains, then for 4/5 days after, the sewage outfall and or overflow, will pump out the effluent. This then takes 7/14 days to dissipate by tidal flow. But some items are more dense and will loiter longer. For peace of mind, go to another beach. One recommendation is Coco on Orient or Rainbow on Grand Case. Lorenky Posted May 22, 2023 #8 Share Posted May 22, 2023 Thanks. I’ve been avoiding the excursions that include Orient Beach because I’m assuming there will be sargassum in April. But is that a correct assumption?

The actual date/month has nothing to do with the appearance of seaweed. It is due solely to storms and very heavy swells offshore. But if wishing to avoid Orient in April, then there is always Rainbow on Grand Case. It will not disappoint any discerning guest.
Lorenky Posted May 22, 2023 #10 Share Posted May 22, 2023 Thanks, but being on the east side, does it get pretty heavy in addition or is it sheltered in someway?

Last chance saloon…Has one visited Karibuni or Yellow Beach and found Seaweed? Both are on Pinel and reached by a very short ferry ride. Space is limited on both so best to book in advance.
