mattR Posted May 4, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2023 Will Venice/Santa Monica Pier on Sunday Jun 25 be to crazy to go to? We fly in around 11am LAX wondering if it might be good to go check out the beach and pier for the afternoon? Any suggestions on where to park or how to tackle the area on a Sunday afternoon? 9tee2Sea Posted May 5, 2023 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2023 Don't!!!. You wont get to the pier until noon-ish. Sometimes parking lots fill up and there is no parking left. It will be very crowded ( schools are out, vacations starting, weather is nice). If you really want to go, try finding a parking spot on the Bluffs above on Whilshire Blvd, then walk to the pier. There is a very nice pedestrian only mall called 3rd street promanade. Its not too far off from the pier. If you do go, the walk from Santa Monica Pier to Venice Beach is very doable ( 1/2 hour maybe) . I used to do that walk as a kid when we went to the beach. Are you implying you'd have luggage in the car? That would be my concern. If you are checking into a hotel, dropping luggage, freshening up and then heading to Santa Monica at 3PM, I think you'd be fine, because people start leaving the beach around 3PM. mattR Posted May 6, 2023 Author #4 Share Posted May 6, 2023 Yes thinking luggage would be in the trunk of the car as check-in isn't until 3pm?
