jennaja Posted May 5, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 5, 2023 I was reading posts on the HSL board describing the horrendous boarding experiences at Canada Place so far this season, when I received an email from HAL, informing us that the Vancouver Marathan will also be taking place the day we board. There will also be 3 ships in port that day (5/7/23). Does anyone know how many runners are expected to take part, and whether their route goes past Canada Place? Any tips for dealing with the madhouse?
jennaja Posted May 6, 2023 Author #2 Share Posted May 6, 2023 Oops. Didn't mean to post this twice. The post disappeared, so I thought I needed to start over.
Urban trekker Posted May 6, 2023 #3 Share Posted May 6, 2023 I am a marathon volunteer and also a cruiser. There will be about 20,000 runners in the three main categories. The current course DOES NOT GO BY CANADA PLACE. It ends a short distance away on the other side of Burrard Street. Unless you are coming to Canada Place from either the North Shore or East of Burrard you will be alright. Traffic control will be in place as well. If you think 3 ships on Sunday will be a zoo and it likely will be - there are four ships in port tomorrow and it addition to all the cruisers many of the marathons runners will be picking up their race packages in the Convention center which is part of the Canada Place property. Hope this helps Dennis
