Matt97 Posted May 7, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2023 Hi All, I have an EV (Tesla if it makes any difference) that id like to use to drive to Southampton for a cruise in September. I googled around a bit and noticed a couple of companies that say they’ll charge the EV and park it whilst i’m away at sea. Just wondering if anyone had any experience of using these and if everything’s legit and you’d recommend? Or should I look more at the park on your drive sort of schemes, using drives that offer an EV charger? Thanks!

Guest Snaxmuppet Posted August 27, 2023 #3 Share Posted August 27, 2023 Personally I don't charge at the port. I have a eNiro and I try to keep the battery at around 50% when I am away. Keeping it at or near 100% for any period of time while away isn't generally good for the battery. So I arrive the the port with about 50% and that 50% then gets me far into my return journey so I am away from the port area before I charge to get me home. The problem with getting a parking company to charge for you is that you don't know when it was done. If they charge the car at the start of your trip then the car sits at 100% all the time you are away and whilst some car manufacturers say that is OK many say it isn't... check your manual 🙂
