Belle on board Posted May 11, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 11, 2023 Hello, We are flying into San Francisco from the UK and have an overnight hotel before embarking the following day. This is not a pre departure tour but a necessary stop due to the flight times. The hotel seems to be near the airport, perhaps 45 minutes drive from the terminal. Has anyone been able to upgrade their hotel in such a scenario to be more central? This is booked directly with Cunard. Thanks in advance.
Rare LadyL1 Posted May 11, 2023 #2 Share Posted May 11, 2023 Usually Cunard booked hotels provide transfers to the port. In many cities there are various grades of hotel one can book. You would do well to ask Cunard or your travel agent directly to see if it is possible to upgrade to make a change.
techteach Posted May 14, 2023 #3 Share Posted May 14, 2023 @Belle on board We haven’t sailed out of San Fran. but we’ve visited many many times and stayed at many hotels both near and far the airport. If it were me I would get a hotel as close to your embarkation site as possible. You will pay more but the drive into San Francisco can be a nightmare. If you’re downtown you are within easy distance of the many sites to visit and getting around is pretty easy.
lissie Posted May 14, 2023 #4 Share Posted May 14, 2023 There's nothing much to see around the airport in SF. We booked a hotel literally within walking distance of the embarkation wharf. Very near Fisherman's Wharf etc. Even down town SF has more to offer than the airport.
