I don't miss packing a camera, maps, flashlight, notepad, alarm clock, etc when I have all that at my fingertips on my phone.

But every photograph that you see in a magazine was taken by a person who carried their maps, flashlight, notepad, alarm clock etc. on their phone…but took their photos with a camera. Some things a phone just can’t replicate. If Canon or Nikon thought that they could marry their lens quality with a smartphone, they would have done so already.

We took two cruises this past fall/winter - and while we finally gave in and bought a smartphone a few  months before the first cruise - we have never used it - or the Medallion App while on the ship and life went on as usual.  We are dinosaurs like your dad - and our last cruise and our next 2 cruises are on the Emerald including one this fall (Nov) - maybe we'll see you on the ship  we'll be the ones with no phone in our hands 🙂

Don't you take any photo's?

I don't take a lot of photos because I am really bad at it.  🙂  DH used to take his camera, but then film went away (for the most part.)  He is about 90% tech challenged.  Sometimes I will ask a fellow passenger to send me a copy of their photos.  People are really nice about that.

I am not sold on the value of the Medallion or the app, but I use it when I need to, getting in and out of the cabin, etc.  I think it's the only use of it DH can handle.😁
