Galveston Hotel Selection

Don’t know how far away either of them is from the cruise terminal(s).

The hotel closest to the cruise terminal is Harbour House and then the Tremont House (listed on the National Register of Historic Places).

Along Seawall Blvd are the San Luis, the Hotel Galvez and a # of other options.

Uber recemtly signed an agreement with the Port of Galveston to allow them to do drop offs at the terminal. So that is a viable transportation option.

Galveston is a major tourist destination in itself .

There is more to do on the the island of Galveston than most of your Caribbean destinations .

Start your vacation early and come in early before cruise .

We have stayed in Webster and  League City, and for our next cruise we're staying in Seabrook.  We've also stayed on the island - it just depends on cost and how much time we have before the cruise.  It's usually a lot less expensive to stay off the island, and it's still close enough for lyft, uber, or use a transportation service.  Sometimes we do a one-way car rental from IAH to League City (Hertz) or La Marque (Budget) so we have a car to go shopping, visit NASA, get dinner, and then get a lyft from the car rental drop off to the port to next morning.  Enterprise does have a location in Galveston, but they always seem to have a $100 one way drop fee.

The transfer service suggested Webster as a hotel location. Thanks for the info.

We have several looking to stay Fri/Sat in August for Allure cruise.  We'll have our own cars so driving 30 mins or so won't be a problem.  We need reasonable but nice hotel.  Any suggestions would be appreciated!!!

Anyone stay in Webster Texas before a Galveston departure?

yes, a number of years ago. but with construction on the south end of I-45 (League City to past Texas City) that is still going on, we book a hotel on the island. We go down the day before, 4 hour drive to Galveston, arrive around 3 pm, just in time to check in. I used to live there and the upgrading of the interstate is sorely needed, but very inconvenient!

Everything in Galveston to close to cruise terminals

The ones along Seawall Blvd are certainly not within walking distance.

They would require a taxi, Uber or a shuttle to the cruise terminals.

Home2 Suites in Texas City is a good one that we have stayed at several times.

Anything on the island will be more expensive than those off the island. Texas City and LaMarque are only about 25 minutes from the pier and have a # of chain hotels along I-45.

Walking distance wasn’t not mentioned as a priority. Everything is still close to terminals . The island is only about two miles wide as Galveston Cruiser says also .

Yes depending on how far you want to walk.  Almost any place on the Seawall will have a restaurant within walking distance.  I can't recall anything right there other than a pizza place because we always go to the same places and they were a few minutes by car.

Thank you! We are looking for a pizza place or something similar. We don't want to spend a fortune and would prefer something within a few blocks.

Definitely look at Home 2 Suites - the pizza place is in the parking lot.  It's been there for years and I've heard it's pretty good.

Thank you!  That is where we are staying.
