10th Anniversary Posted March 14, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 14, 2006 We are going on the Mariner in May to the Western Caribbean. This is our first cursie and we really want to snorkel. Should be snorkel in GC or Cozumel? How about both? What are the best spots? Are there any free snorkel location at either location? I appreciate any information you can share.:)
Stranger1 Posted March 14, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 14, 2006 We found some pretty good snorkeling at Eden Rock in Grand Cayman. Just go right down the main street once you get off the tender. It's down about a block or two at a little dive shop. They rent lockers there. There's no beach, and it's really rockey in the water but there's a good amount of fish. 10th Anniversary Posted March 15, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted March 15, 2006 Thanks. People have recommended Eden Rock, Cali, and Cheeseburger. Right now we are looking at doing both Cali and Eden Rock on our own without a tour guide or ship excursion. I understand that both of these sites are free and you can enter them at any time. Stranger1 Posted March 15, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 15, 2006 Here's a link to the Eden Rock Dive center. On one of the pages there's a map of where they are...it looks further than it is, but in reality it can't be more than 2 blocks away from the tenders. http://www.edenrockdive.com/
10th Anniversary Posted March 17, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted March 17, 2006 Thanks for the information. Trying to figure out which site(s) the ships use as their reef & wreck excursion. I think Cali and Cheeseburger, not sure though. Would like to do Cali because it's a wreck, but don't want to be overwhelmed by the ships excursion. Is Eden Rock crowded. Which one would you say is the least crowded. Thanks again for sharing. I'm new to these boards and this site, as we are taking our first cruise in May. I have really enjoyed this site and boards. I've learned alot.:)
Stranger1 Posted March 17, 2006 #6 Share Posted March 17, 2006 When we went, there were 6 ships in port and the main street was VERY crowded, but Eden Rock wasn't too bad. Not sure about the others.
