QM2 boarding experiences for EB transatlantic crossings

I noticed there was a thread discussing boarding experiences in Southampton.  I though it might be helpful for such a thread for departing NYC.  I’m departing on July 7.   As soon as I get my boarding pass I’ll share my boarding time.  Hopefully others will do the same and this will help fellow cruisers.

It just so happens I kept notes on the times.

No one ever noticed or commented on anyone's boarding time. There were folks in line with all sorts of random boarding times. So fuhgeddaboudit.

Arrived Brooklyn cruise terminal

1230pm

Long security line but moving. Good ac.

4 out of 6 metal detector staffed

1:00pm through x-ray and in checking queue

28 checkin agents, counter space for 42

1:27pm checked in and in waiting hall. Not very many folks here

1:35pm Walking up to next queue at escalator

1:40 onboard

In long queue for lift

1:52 in our cabin

1 hour 17 min total per stopwatch

This is helpful.  We can plan on leaving the hotel at checkout time and get to Red Hook at 12:30.  As long as there is AC and places to sit waiting would not be a problem.

Yes, the waiting area has seating. We were in the waiting area from 1:27 pm to 1:35 pm. The rest of the time was standing.

AC worked good.

I was pleasantly surprised-when I sailed from Brooklyn an month or so back, I arrived at the terminal around my appointed time 1:30, and I ‘sailed’ right through and I was on board very quickly-no lines nor any standing around.😊

I just started my check in process.  I see that I have a 2:30 pm time.  I’m in a Brittanica balcony and a first timer.  So this makes sense to me.  We will arrive earlier because we want to make sure we don’t miss the cut off.
