Rare Presto2 Posted June 3, 2023 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2023 (edited) Help. We are confused. (What's new?) We have P&O insurance and can claim for a missed port. We had a missed port. The form is asking what value we want to claim for the port. Not sure what to put as we were going on an excursion and have been refunded. Can we claim for the fact that we just didn't go to the port and it was one of the reasons we went on this one? If so, how much can we ask ? Thanks for your help folks as we've never done this before and not even sure if we can claim. We just know others were claiming, but obviously we haven't seen them all since. Don't want to do or say anything not honest on the form but don't want to not claim if we can. Do you have specific "cruise" insurance - if so then you would normally have a "missed ports" clause where you would receive a set sum per port per person (this can be anything from £50 to £200 (possibly more) 17 minutes ago, Presto2 said: and it was one of the reasons we went on this one? No - you cannot claim extra because it was one of the reasons you went on that particular cruise. 18 minutes ago, Presto2 said: If so, how much can we ask ? Whatever is in your policy Thanks 🙂 We do have cruise insurance. We took out P&O's recommended this time so we do have a clause but can't find the set sum. Will have another look. Thanks for getting back to me

Whatever is in your policy We do have cruise insurance. It just says between £150 and £2,000. Do you just get a standard amount for mussing the port? That's what is confusing us. Our insurance is with LV and we can claim £150 each for a missed port.

Rare Presto2 Posted June 3, 2023 Author #7 Share Posted June 3, 2023 Thanks both - is this the one P&O recommend ? Hubby can't remember off the top of his head.
AlanCruise Posted June 3, 2023 #8 Share Posted June 3, 2023 Assuming you took the P&O policy linked to Holiday Extras it confusingly says in the summary that it is from £1000 to £2000 (depending on the policy level) If you go to the detailed policy wording (page 23) it says £100 per port for bronze (subject to £1000 limit - so if you missed 10 ports!).. £150 for Silver and £200 for gold.

P&O always used to recommend Holiday Extras, but not sure if that is still the case.

Yes that's the one -- as clear as mud when filling the forms in. That sort of clears it up as it is just one port. Then there is the £100 excess ............ We got £300 (2x £150) from Holiday Extras for one port, I think that was silver cover.

Rare Presto2 Posted June 3, 2023 Author #13 Share Posted June 3, 2023 Sorry do we just put the 2 claims on the same claim? If you get me. Sorry to seem like we have no clue -- but we've never done this before and don't have one !

You do need the confirmation from P&O that the port was missed. If they didn’t give you this on board, you will need to email them for it.

It seems like we didn't miss much in Haugasund and at least more entertainment was offered on the ship.
