Rare Goldenknight Posted June 5, 2023 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2023 We at a tier level now that makes earning lots of points on each cruise somewhat inconsequential - - - for us, anyway. So, our next cruise this year is soon on the Prima. Looking at the codes for this reservation, we are each earning a crazy amount of tier points per day. It's the most we've ever earned per day on any NCL cruise. Are these tier earning offers targeted to some cruisers only, or available to everyone who books directly through NCL? Just curious how this happened for this upcoming cruise because I didn't see it in my offers, via email , nor when logged in to my NCL account. Rare Goldenknight Posted June 6, 2023 Author #10 Share Posted June 6, 2023 (edited) Thank you to both "inside cabin" and "mk8288" for the information and screenshots. I don't recall getting any specific Memorial Day sale offer beyond what is posted on their site as a "header" at the top of their home page. I do get those monthly "insider" emails, but only scan quickly. Sailing on the Prima soon, rechecked the codes, and we are each getting more than 3 extra bonus points for this sailing. Because earning Latitudes points doesn't incentivize us, it is still great for our daughter, who gets to the last tier she wanted. Ooops, for the first time, I read the post from "mk8288" in the link to the other thread about these extra points. Yes, you even used the same adjective as me in your post from April: "crazy" amount of points earned. You noted you can get 60 Lat points for a 7 day cruise . . . . we are on an 11 day cruise. Again, we don't check for these point promos, so it's nice to get them, without even realizing that's what was booked. Rare mking8288 Posted June 6, 2023 #11 Share Posted June 6, 2023 (edited) @Suetravel Hi, Sue ... Nope, we've twice cancelled booking on this "new" ship & found the 11 nights/days deal to be irresistible, mostly sea days (wasn't "originally" planning on her) - leaving from another port about 2 weeks earlier than yours ... one of the "shared" port is going to be Ponta Delgada. Flying out on our own dimes (lots of them) several days pre-embarkation ... - will be tailing the Viva by a few days (hopefully, if their schedule isn't ...) Thus far, a very quiet CC roll call. NCL's latest numbers projecting the fleet to be sailing at 105% double occupancies for 2023, find it hard to believe that they will continue these cruises at double & triple extras. Then, last minute Alaska prices are falling this season (at least for "older" mid-sized ships) and someone in our extended F&F circle got non-transferrable codes for 50% off, crazy. That 105% is achieved at a cost. There have been quite a lot of discounts not all on the bottom line price more behind the scenes. Upgrade min bids very low and they are moving people up to get the empty cabins into inside OV categories Flight credits/BOGOF Then discounts on insides to low levels and dropping solo sups gets the occupation levels up. Alaska prices and some Europe are very low. They had a weekend sale 50% of FAS in UK Our last one in May 10n was decent price when booked and dropped more we got 4pts a night which dropped the gap to diamond to 1 more cruise not that it gets us much. The current UK 35% "sale" ends soon like 2hrs, has been extended to the 15th June according to the t&c.
mistertomatoe Posted June 6, 2023 #13 Share Posted June 6, 2023 The June offer is "AN EXTRA POINT" on select Alaska & Europe Sailings but the examples given show X3 points so double extra points per the email I got June 4. There is a line at the beginning of the email that says "Last Chance to Get 3 Extra Bonus Points." Typical NCL marketing nonsense. The terms have been confusing or just wrong. As someone pointed out the only way to know for sure is call in or do a mock booking with courtesy hold and look at the confirmation PDF in the email for the codes (LATBONUS, LATDBLX or LATRIPLE). Rare insidecabin Posted June 6, 2023 #14 Share Posted June 6, 2023 The discounts keep on coming, just had 2 more discount coupons added to the account the 20%(Europe only ) will come in handy as been looking for another short haul/local trip. Suetravel Posted June 6, 2023 #15 Share Posted June 6, 2023 I spoke to ncl rep and inquire if the ncl jewel is still valid for 3 extra points and he checked? And came back to tell me that only ncl spirit qualified. He said there are only 3 sailings that qualified for the 3 extra points. To me that seem very strange. Suetravel Posted June 6, 2023 #17 Share Posted June 6, 2023 I also inquired about the ncl breakaway Nov transatlantic sailing and December ncl gem sailing. They are only 1 point each.
RRSeeker Posted June 6, 2023 #18 Share Posted June 6, 2023 They changed the insider offer. However, if I look at cruises on Ncl on my phone it still exists for some cruises but on a computer it is gone for the same ones. IT glitch I assume. Yulp, apparently between the Memorial Day Weekend sail & June's new Insiders Offer, NCL dropped the triple extra points, double extra points and even extra point offers on nearly all sailings - must be hitting their booking targets and occupancies ahead. Last week, the Prima TA with low fares was still eligible for triple extras, gone at least for now upon running a mock booking under a different account. Are you committed to the GEM TA ... looked and it's almost as quiet as mine/our TA. As for the other questions, don't chase the next CC level for the sake of getting there, stick around, get active & involved on your roll call, took 12+ years to reach the current milestone ... next meaningful tier for you might be at 100, 500 and then 1,000 posts ... 5,000 posts in 2 or 3 years down the "waterway". 1 hour ago, RRSeeker said: They changed the insider offer. Just did a late night mock booking and sure enough, not a mistake, NCL surely changed the offer and excluded many sailings from the DBLX and TRIPLEX extra points this week. 21 hours ago, insidecabin said: That 105% is achieved at a cost. There have been quite a lot of discounts not all on the bottom line price more behind the scenes. Agreed 100%, and being in UK (and EU) with different rules & terms, making it more challenging to compare, shop & book ... not to mention, the fluctuating currency exchange & conversion rates. Have a 7 nighters coming up in September, final payment made and prices still wild for Insides ... just picked up "noises" elsewhere that NCL (not surprised) partnering with land casino partners to promote & fill some of the cabins. Nowadays, the upgrade bids come with minimum bids for all sub/categories plus live bidding for Haven - like Vegas gaming, re-shaping the landscape & how things are done. Haven't really look closely at this season's Alaska bookings but definitely, FWIW, it's under-performing with sailings below 75% to 80% ... maybe, attributed to lack of flights & seats on those single aisle jets connecting via the hubs. Too many lines and ships cruising up & down the Inner Passage on donut runs. Now that the Epic is moving back across the pond to FL for the Bahamas/Caribbean winter months ... should be interesting to track the promotions (and, don't expect fleetwide "deals" until late August/early September since schools are out or about to, in most districts soon.)
