I haven’t been on the Getaway but the Bliss and the Encore have the same set up with lots going on in the atrium and then the Local one deck up. I don’t love this design either although I do really love both ships for other reasons. Do you think you will cruise NCL again? I would consider NCL again, there was plenty that we liked. I thought the dining selections were good and the food was terrific

We were on the cruise prior to yours and really enjoyed staying at Cocoa Beach for two days prior and eating at Gators at the Port. Such a great area to cruise from! We loved Million Dollar Quartet and were lucky enough to find out about Broadway Unplugged. It was only once during our cruise and performed by the very talented MDQ cast. For anyone sailing on Getaway in the near future, watch for this special performance in the Illusionarium Theatre.

carribeanpirate18 Posted June 6, 2023 Author #29 Share Posted June 6, 2023 Read online that our cruise had quite a few people get COVID. One large group reported that 18 people were sick and in our group of 8, 2 people are sick, including my wife. She mostly feels like she has a head cold, but did test positive. Strangely enough, I am fine and the other person's husband is fine. I think its something that you have to deal with in today's world.
depplep Posted June 6, 2023 #30 Share Posted June 6, 2023 Funny, same thing happened with us last fall. We were in Rome for 10 days. My husband gets food poisoning and COVID. I come home fine.
Rare carohs Posted June 6, 2023 #31 Share Posted June 6, 2023 Thanks for your thoughts. Smelling smoke in the common areas, especially the pool area, is a deal breaker for us since we cruise with kids who love using the pool. I had heard that the casino smoke permeates in the atrium, so I was already put off this class ship. I understand people have vices but that's just one that shouldn't negatively impact everyone else around them. What was NCL thinking with that ship design?

Yes, smoke from the deck 7 casino is a problem on Getaway/Breakaway and the older ships. Design was improved for Joy, Bliss, Encore & Prima. All of these newer ships have an enclosed smoking section in the casino. 1

Our cruise is only a couple of weeks after yours, but for some reason the site neither gives the cost nor the option to buy. $339 for 7 days is $48/day. They must be raising prices. Our last cruise (Dec 22) it was $35. In Sept 21 we only paid $19. I’m having the same issue and our cruise is 79 days out, but it’s on the Viva, and none of the NCL agents that I have spoken with can explain why it can’t be purchased, and I’m getting a different answer from, they aren’t available yet, or , they are sold out. It could be because the Viva hasn’t launched yet.
