which "zone" would most likely either have a restaurant in the hotel or nearby where we could get a reasonably priced breakfast AND a reasonably priced cab to the port (Coral Gables/Coconut Grove, Dadeland, Key Biscayne, MIA, Downtown, Miami Beach, Miami Lakes, Southwest Miami, South Beach, North Miami, N. Miami Beach)? Thanks!

The Port of Miami is in the Downtown zone. Closest zones are Airport, South Beach. Just a little further are Miami Beach and Coral Gables. Lots of great information at http://www.biddingfortravel.com
