Istanbul - which side of ship is best for viewing in port and sail in?

Ships can dock with either side facing the water.  They decide based on various operational reasons.  So you won’t know which side faces what until it happens.

During sail in, I chose to be up on the top decks so I could go back and forth between sides.  Both sides are interesting to look at.

Port side is better for the sail-in.

But for the sailaway - guess what 😏

And assuming the ship comes from the Med & goes out same-way, between the Med and the Sea of Marmaris you sail thro the narrow Dardanelles Strait. The northern (Gallipoli) side is more interesting, but that depends what time of day or night..
