HAs anyone Joined a Cruise a Few days After Embarkation and what was your experience like? we are joining the Nieuw Statendam in DOver instead of Copenhagen in September and wondering what others experience was. Thanks

What port did you embark on?

It's a bit different with immigration.

A couple of times ...don't remember any issues.  Mainly because these were very long cruises so the few days difference in boarding were ultimately insignificant for what was ahead.

 

However, there are reports of some initial discomfort when coming in for only a sole segment on a  World Cruise, since informal traditions might have already formed among the long-term passengers.

A slightly different boarding for our DD.  Her purse, containing passports, etc., was stolen in Copenhagen, and she had to join our Baltic cruise finally, in Helsinki.  No one knew what was going on, she had to wander the port on her own, dragging her suitcase, looking for the ship.  The ship was expecting her and we greeted her fondly, but finding her way there was not easy!  Dover should be better organized and is smaller, not too many spots for a cruise ship to dock.  Also you will have planned ahead and got letters of approval  to board there, I imagine.

Yes it is preapproved. We didn't fully book until we had the letter of acceptance of deviation. And we know we much bring it with us.
