Genessa Posted March 15, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 15, 2006 does anyone know if you can get a signal at the ports of st thomas or st maarten or san juan. i figure probably not but i need to ask for a late week sick call. my dh & I and our friends all have Verizon. I got service in San Juan, but had to listen to a recording in Spanish first on my phone. Dh & friends (who all have newer phones - mine is ANCIENT) all had normal service in San Juan. St. Thomas, I had service on the ship, but on land I had no service, the other three phones were all fine. I'm thinking the diff is my phone is still analog and their phones are all something better?? I need a new phone ;) .

mcgore83 Posted March 15, 2006 #8 Share Posted March 15, 2006 Had service with Verizons in all 3 ports. No signal at sea. Roaming was .69 per minute.
jgf Posted March 16, 2006 #9 Share Posted March 16, 2006 I have T-Mobile and was able to use my phone in St Thomas (sitting on the beach at Magen's Bay) and in San Juan. Since San Juan and St Thomas are US territories, the minutes were deducted from my plan - no additional roaming fees. I don't remember if I tried to get a signal in St Maarten, but I do have international roaming enabled so I suspect I could have.
