Falklands: Bertha's Beach vs Bluff Cove?

When we were in the Falklands last December, we took a helicopter tour out to Volunteer Point. It is the easiest way to get out to Volunteer Point - a 20 minute ride, compared to the 1 1/2 - 2 hours it takes with a 4x4. Plus, the cost was the same a booking a 4x4 tour through the ship!!

Thanks!

We had hoped to do the same, and were booked, but he’s closed shop for personal reasons.    Now we’re scrambling to find another plan.
Doesn’t seem to be another helicopter service.

Last month we were in the Falklands and no sign of helicopter service to Volunteer Point.  We researched all our options quite thoroughly.

BTW, I would highly recommend the trip to volunteer point despite the long 4x4 ride to get there.  On this cruise, we also had a tour to see Punta Tumbo from Puerto Madryn.  Volunteer Point on the Falklands is so much better due to the number of penguins and in particular the King Penguins.  Of course, actually being able to tender at the Falklands is a crap shoot due to weather, so it is good to have a backup plan.

We did our cruise in January, made it to the Falklands, and did the Bluff Cove excursion.
it seems they are only working with cruise ships; there wasn’t a way to book independently.

Bluff Cove was wonderful!!

The ride out was smooth, as they used the pandemic shutdown time to fully pave the road.
We saw plenty of Gentoos and Kings.
Highly recommend, especially if you can’t do rough 4x4 rides, or prefer not to spend 7 hours.
