lakinapook Posted July 15, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2023 My flight home from Jacksonville isn't until 8:30 pm, but even if I go super slow off the ship I will have about 8 hours to kill which wouldn't be an issue except for my luggage which I have no idea what I can do with it. Does anyone have any ideas for me? Would it be worth it to rent a car for the day, or is it too short?
Hobbsey Posted July 15, 2023 #2 Share Posted July 15, 2023 I’d go to the airport hotel, check my bag with bellman and enjoy the bar and restaurant. Another alternative would be to rent a car for the day and check out the beach.
hrhdhd Posted July 15, 2023 #3 Share Posted July 15, 2023 I'd get off early, rent a car, and head to Amelia Island for a few hours.
robert2 Posted July 16, 2023 #4 Share Posted July 16, 2023 Amelia Island is beautiful, but unless you're staying at one of the oceanside hotels/resorts, there is not a lot to see and do. I suggest you take an Uber or taxi to Jacksonville International Airport (JAX), rent a car and drive south to St Augustine. It's a 56 minute drive (51 miles from JAX), mostly freeway. It is picturesque, and there are many sights to see. https://www.visitflorida.com/travel-ideas/articles/st-augustine-welcome-to-americas-oldest-city/ You're fortunate to have a long layover in Jacksonville.
