snaefell Posted August 14, 2023 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2023 Just starting planning a New York trip in July 2024,possibly including an Eastbound TA crossing on QM2,does one side or the other see more of the sun during the crossing at all & are some balcony cabins better or worse than others for enjoying any sun. Grateful for any advice please guys.
ExArkie Posted August 14, 2023 #2 Share Posted August 14, 2023 Eastbound, the starboard side cabins would face south for the entire crossing, where they would receive some sunshine pretty much throughout the daylight hours. Port side cabins would face north and receive very little, if any, direct sun. The Statue of Liberty should also be on the starboard side heading out of New York harbor, if that matters to you.
TheOldBear Posted August 14, 2023 #3 Share Posted August 14, 2023 On an eastbound crossing, the starboard side [odd room numbers] faces generally south. We prefer the sheltered balcony rooms on decks 4, 5 & 6 over the glass fronted balconies on higher decks. Note that many deck 8 balconies are 'obstructed' with lifeboats and tenders [see the thread 'What do Obstructed views look like' toward the top of this forum]

Winifred 22 Posted August 14, 2023 #5 Share Posted August 14, 2023 Crossing at the moment and there is no sun either side of the ship plenty of wind though. Glad I have a sheltered balcony it’s brilliant as I can sit out and be out of he wind.
