NWS777 Posted March 17, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2006 Just booked an AF Mini Suite on the Jewel for our first cruise. It is Cabin 11060 and is located in the middle of the ship. Is this a good location? There were cabins towards the front of the ship also available but it seems I read somewhere that the middle is better. Or does it even matter? mbisson Posted March 17, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 17, 2006 IMO-Middle is better. Less motion in high seas and usually you'll be near an elevator or stairwell, which makes getting around somewhat easier. But to us, it's ususally not that big a deal either way. Sometimes a longer walk helps work off the extra food I eat ;) jmo -Monte
packercruising Posted March 17, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2006 Well disgruntled cruisers would be the ones disembarking so would that make the gruntled cruisers the ones that are embarking?

NWS777 Posted March 17, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted March 17, 2006 Thanks for the reply Monte. Reading that there is less motion in high seas makes me very happy!
mbisson Posted March 17, 2006 #6 Share Posted March 17, 2006 When we were on the Jewel it was a pretty stable ride. Unless it get's really rough you should be fine. BTW-lower decks in the center of the ship should have the least motion -Monte
laurashelby Posted March 17, 2006 #7 Share Posted March 17, 2006 Does anyone know if being under the pool area or Garden Cafe are noisy? I'm looking at one of those cabins for next year possibly.

Just got back from the Jewel and stayed directly under the Great Outdoors, deck 11, aft. No noise.

packercruising Posted March 17, 2006 #10 Share Posted March 17, 2006 Are any of the categorys a better value than others? Are the cabins significantly different?
7SeasLover Posted March 18, 2006 #11 Share Posted March 18, 2006 We're booked in 11152 aft. We love sitting on our balcony looking at the wake.

snorklinbarb Posted March 18, 2006 #13 Share Posted March 18, 2006 The initial reviews pointed out the noise from the overhead treadmills. When we were on in Oct., they had just received shipment of these thick rubber mats as they had received quite a few complaints. When DH used the fitness center last month, all those mats had been installed and we heard that the problem has been cleared up. DH said they weren't thin little pads, either. Good buffers. leenerh Posted March 18, 2006 #14 Share Posted March 18, 2006 We were in 11512 over Christmas and while it was noisy at times we still loved it!! I think the rubber mats will help a lot.
