lljost Posted August 24, 2023 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2023 We are looking at flying Southwest into LGB instead of LAX in December roundtrip. I always request wheel chair service for my DH. He can walk just not long distances. I see LGB uses the outdoor ramps instead of inside jetways. Any experience with not being able to have help disembarking the plane? Appreciate any feedback. Prices are better at LGB and certainly has to be less congested than LAX. Thank you!
KeepCalmBearOn Posted August 24, 2023 #2 Share Posted August 24, 2023 LGB has ramps, as you've noted, and that is precisely so they can accommodate wheelchairs. You should have no issues arranging a wheelchair with your airline. It is no different than airports with jetways,
Sprocket Posted August 27, 2023 #3 Share Posted August 27, 2023 We love Long Beach airport but just a heads up if you are checking bags you have to exit the terminal and pick them up off the conveyor outside. There are luggage carts available I just don't know how far they extend the wheel chair assistance. We are not at that point yet, but I grab our bags and then wait for my husband to catch up near the street where we then go and grab our Uber.
