Question about Anchorage Port

We are going on a HAL cruise that stops in this port. We have been there before, but every time we have gone on a shorex, so I have a question about access to the city from the port. If you do not go on a tour, is there access to taxis or a shuttle bus or rental cars to take to the downtown? I know the port is industrial, so not much around for tourist access to anything like most normal ports. Thanks for any help!

Yes, you have to take the complimentary shuttle bus out of the port area.  It takes you to the downtown area where there is the visitor center and the convention center.   You will meet the shuttle again at the drop off point when you are ready to return to the ship.

Do you know how often the shuttle runs?  If your ship is there overnight, any idea what the timing restrictions are in the AM for leaving and PM for returning to the port?

We have not had an overnight in the Anchorage port.  We will have an overnight when we sail on our 28 day Alaska cruise in 2024.  We’ll find out then!  I wouldn’t be surprised if the ship has a curfew since the port is a working port, although the port could be open 24 hours due to the long daylight hours in June.

Good question!

The shuttles should run continuously throughout the day.
