There are only two choices if you want to stay in an acceptable hotel in San Pedro close to the cruise terminal, the DoubleTree and the Crowne Plaza.
KeepCalmBearOn Posted September 21, 2023 #4 Share Posted September 21, 2023 Definitely NOT the Hotel Current, which is not even at the Port of LA. The DoubleTree and Crowne Plaza are your only two real choices in San Pedro.

My mistake But not even close to the Carnival terminal in Long Beach. It's clear on the other side of Long Beach, several miles from any of the cruise piers. notalandlover Posted September 22, 2023 #7 Share Posted September 22, 2023 The reason I mentioned them is I did a snooze & cruise deal there in the past. We parked our car at the hotel for a week. They drove us to and from the port.

Thanks f the quick reply😊 The question would be why do you want to be further away? To save money? If you stay as far away as Torrance, you probably don't save any money with the added transportation costs. Downtown Long Beach is viable, but not any cheaper. Being "just a bit" further out from San Pedro puts you in some not so nice areas. There are tradeoffs any way you go.

As Canadians who pay a built-in 35% exchange, we always have to pick and choose where we stay, be it LA, Fort Lauderdale, Seattle etc. When sailing out of San Pedro, as our next two cruises are doing, we prefer either Long Beach or Torrance depending on the time of year and the the cost. The nice Long Beach hotels can be very expensive in "higher" seasons, while the pricing in hotels in Torrance can be significantly lower. As to transit costs, an Uber or taxi from LAX to Torrance, which is a straight line trip, about half way to the ship, is a wash. Half the fare the day before then the other half driving down to the ship, or the full fare down to Long Beach then a small fee to the ship. Yes, we prefer Long Beach but settle on Torrance for its significantly lower cost as it has all the last-minute amenities we need, like good restaurants, and the huge Del-Amo mall
