HAL Koningsdam: Repositioning on Oct 24 (Going Solo)

Placed this quick coastal trip (10/24 - 10/28, Vancouver to San Diego) on hold and debating if HAL is good for solo. Price is right for a verandah, even at double occupancy pricing (especially since this itinerary includes crew appreciation), and I've always wanted to experience this particular ship.

Anyone with experience on HAL as a solo gay sailor? I went solo on Princess earlier this year and found that enjoyable, but wondering if HAL will be as welcoming. As of now, I'm not seeing any LGBTQIA+ events on the itinerary, but maybe the schedule isn't fully loaded yet.

I could definitely use a break and need to cough up the full amount by tomorrow, but would first love to hear if anyone else has a solo HAL experience to share.

I haven’t gone solo, but I’ve gone on HAL with both family and with my partner sometimes.  They always have at least a couple LGBT meetups per week, usually one on the first night.  Never seems to be more than a handful of gays that attend, usually male couples in their 50s/60s. But they’ve always been friendly and nice to keep seeing familiar faces for the rest of the cruise at the casino or in the lounges.

i like the koningsdam. I hope you will too!

My friend Jon and I will be on that repositioning cruise and look forward to meeting you, hopefully on night one at an LGBTQ+ meetup. I've been wanting to check out this ship as well.

Best, Mark

Thanks, @mjs99mjs. I haven't pulled the trigger on this yet, but today is my final day of the hold so I need to make some decisions quick!

Did you decide to go? I've done the Konigsdam as a solo gay cruiser and had a great time. The Konigsdam has a small (single sex) sauna with a great view that's separate from the actual spa. On my trip it was very quiet and I could sweat and enjoy the ocean view in peace.
