Removing 3rd and 4th Guest from Reservation on Reflection?

When I made our reservation for a 6 night cruise on the Reflection I asked if it was better to book for my husband and I then add on my kids later  if they could go (school obligations) or was it better to put all of us on the reservation then take off whoever could not go. I was told to definitely put them on now since we could drop them off before the final payment and not lose the promotion we booked with.  Now they are telling me if I take them off the reservation I will lose my original promo and be given the current promo.  Anyone have experience with this?

I can see where that might be the case if you booked under the promo where you received “Up to $800” per stateroom. It was partly based on the number of people in the cabin. 2 people per cabin received $200, 4 people received $400.
