Any Volunteering Opportunities?

Do you know of any volunteer opportunities in either PV, Cabo, or Mazatlan? 

 

I would really like to take my 3 year old to do something different in at least one of the stops. 

 

Something with kids, working with the poor, at a church, or anything else with locals. 

 

Any ideas or leads?

In Puerto Vallarta I suggest you try to arrange a visit and donation at Casa Hogar Children's Shelter. Your son will have a chance to interact with the children there, some of whom will be his age. If you contact them ahead of time they can let you know what items they need most and you can bring those items from home or pick them up at the Walmart in PV (or just give them cash, of course).

 

Search for Casa Hogar Maximo Cornejo on FB, or you can also find a lot of different charities in PV on pvangels dot com if Casa Hogar doesn't appeal to you.

 

I'm not familiar enough with the other cities to offer any advice for them.

I love this! I'm going on this cruise with the 8th grade Girl Scout troop I lead, so that's such a great idea. We have port stops in Cabo and Ensenada.

@DukeASUGirl I've been in Cabo for a number of weeks now and have learned that there is a Casa Hogar here, too! Could work out for you and your scouts for a visit:

Thank you! I'd actually Googled to look for ideas right after reading this thread, and found that one. I sent them a message, so hopefully it will work out.

 

The girls will still want to do a shore excursion in the morning (looking at either kayaking or snorkeling, along with the Arch), but maybe there would be a short service project they could do in the afternoon that would work with our timing.

Most of the kids will be in school in the morning anyway so hopefully the afternoon will work out. Have a great cruise!

They said they don't take one-day volunteers. 😞 But would be happy to give us a tour of the facility if we're interested.
