We've never really thought much about luggage restrictions until now and would like some help understanding the following I copied from BA site:

"Checked baggage

Please note that no one piece of baggage can exceed 32kg (70lbs) for health and safety reasons.

Checked baggage allowances

USA, Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, Brazil, Nigeria, Caribbean and Central America routes

Passenger Allowance

Adults and children aged 2 and over 2 pieces

Maximum dimensions per piece(H+W+L): 158cm (62in)

Maximum weight per piece: 32kg (70lbs)

All other international routes

(including BA Connect London City Airport routes)

Passenger Allowance

Adults and children aged 2 and over FIRST - 40kg (88lbs)

Club World/Club Europe - 30kg (66lbs)

World Traveller Plus, World Traveller, Euro Traveller - 23kg (51 lbs)

UK Domestic routes

(including BA Connect London City Airport routes)

Passenger Allowance

Adults and children aged 2 and over One piece

Maximum dimensions per piece(H+W+L): 158cm (62in)

Maximum weight per piece: 32kg (70lbs) "

We are flying from Munich via BA to London and London to SFO. The first part of our flight is called Euro Traveler and the second part is called the World Traveler. The above information is confusing to me as we are flying to US, but we are classified as World and Euro traveler with less weight per bag? Is it 51 lb or 70 lbs maximum for checked luggage? Thank you so much for any information.

Is your flight booked as one ticket or two? If one-MUC/London/SFO, then you will be allowed 2 bags, 70 pounds each. However, if it is two tickets (MUC/London, with or without layover, then London/SFO), you COULD be restricted to 1 suitcase/50 pounds each on the MUC/London flight.

Also, if you booked two tickets, but you booked them to be consecutive flights-EXAMPLE-arrive London 10:00AM, leave London for SFO at 12:30PM, you will probably be able to through-check your luggage to SFO from MUC and the 70 pound weight limits will probably apply. Technically, on two tickets, you should be restricted to 1 suitcase, 50 pounds on intra-Europe flights. However, if you are continuing on to the US, you will PROBABLY be allowed the higher weight limit. A lot depends on who is checking you in, as airline rules are not uniformly applied.

The only additional baggage allowances on intra-European flights are for first and business class passengers.

Thank you, yes, it is booked as a one ticket. Normally, we take one check in luggage per person if it's 70 lbs, but if it was 50 lbs, we were considering bringing two check ins (although we did not want to do this).
