Dress Code and Theme Schedules for 2024

A note about the QM2 2024 Dress Code and Theme Schedule.

I updated the QM2 document yesterday to reflect the changes to the world voyage itinerary rerouting QM2 around Africa for the return to Southampton. One of the dates originally scheduled for a gala evening was 12 April which is now the first of two port days in Cape Town. It's unlikely they will hold a gala evening on that date now, so I have predicted that gala evening will be moved to 14 April.

I don't like to assume changes to the schedule like this. I also realize updating the dress code schedule for this itinerary change is low on Cunard's to-do list right know as it should be. When things settle down, I'd appreciate any updates to the QM2 dress code and theme schedules for the changes to her world voyage itinerary if they become available in your My Cunard calendar.

Does anyone know what the Gala night theme is for the Queen Elizabeth on the 6th March 2024 - going from Sydney to Melbourne to Burnie and back to Sydney?

The gala evening on 6th March does not have a theme (unless you notice one has been added in your daily calendar in My Cunard). Not all gala evenings have themes. That's especially true of evenings such as 6th March since the next day is disembarkation day for those who are only doing the 2-night cruise from Sydney to Melbourne. Guests who are disembarking in Melbourne may wish to have their luggage packed and set out early for collection. On gala evenings like that, Cunard often does not designate a theme.

Here are links to partial dress code and themed evening schedules for 2024. As was the case with the schedules for previous years, these are compiled from what other members have found on "My Cunard" within the daily calendars for their voyages.

QM2: QM2 2024 Dress Code and Theme Schedule

QE: QE 2024 Dress Code and Theme Schedule

QV: QV 2024 Dress Code and Theme Schedule

This is still very much a work in progress at this point. Once again I will need your help to fill in the many gaps. If you can fill in any of the gaps in these schedules, please post here what you are seeing in "My Cunard" (or have learned elsewhere). I'll need the name of the ship, the dates of the voyage, and the dates and themes (if any) for all the "Gala Evenings" on your itinerary.

If you see anything that needs correcting, please post those corrections here as well.

It's my understanding that Cunard have not posted any dress code and theme schedules for QA yet. It also appears that Cunard have not yet posted any schedules for QE beyond February 2024 sailing dates. If you see any schedules for QA or any schedules for QE beyond February, please post what you are seeing here.

These documents reside on my Google Drive so I'll be able to update them there with your additions and corrections without needing to attach new versions here. The links I've provided here should always retrieve the latest versions from my Google Drive.

Thanks for confirming the schedule for those dates on Queen Anne. I've completed the schedule for Queen Anne since I started this thread. The link to that document can be seen in my reply #51 at the top of this page if you're interested in seeing the full 2024 schedule for Queen Anne.

We're going on Queen Victoria V426P Southampton to the Canaries, 3-15th November 2024. There is NOT A SINGLE GALA NIGHT. Every night shows as 'Smart Attire'. Did they make a mistake? We're very disappointed.

No, I don't think they've made a mistake. Rather I think it's a case where they haven't gotten around to posting the gala evening schedule for your voyage yet.

There used to be a gap in QV's schedule from 30 October to 15 November 2024. That was presumably going to be a drydock. But that was canceled and two new voyages were added to QV's schedule to fill that gap. Those voyages are V426N (Zeebrugge and Rotterdam), 30 October-3 November 2024 and your voyage V426P (Canary Islands), 3-15 November 2024.

I first noticed those two new voyages were added to QV's schedule in early January although they were added sometime late last year. They were almost certainly added after the dress code and theme schedules had been posted for the rest of QV's 2024 voyages last October.

My presumption is they hadn't determined the dress code and theme schedules for voyages V426N and V426P when they first added them to the schedule. I suppose they just posted "Smart Attire" as placeholders for each evening in those voyages' calendars for the time being.

I don't know when/if they will get around to deciding on and posting the gala evening and theme schedules for those two voyages. Hopefully they will post something eventually. About all I can suggest is to keep an eye on your voyage calendar for any updates and please do let me know here when you see the gala evening schedule posted.

Thanks for that information, I hope that you are right. We've also booked a 35 night cruise on QM2 for January 2025 with only five gala nights (I can send the schedule if you don't have it yet). Again, that was very disappointing to us, especially as we booked both cruises whilst on a Queen Victoria cruise and were assured by the Voyage Sales Specialists that there would be 'two gala night per week on average'. If this continues, we will change to another cruise line.

In addition to bluemarble's comments, you can probably make a reasonable guess at what they will eventually post by looking at voyages V428 and V431 on the schedule attached to this thread, which are quite similar to your cruise. Going by that you can probably expect three on sea days. I'd guess one on either 4th, 5th or 6th, and the others on 11th and 13th. You'll need to wait for them to confirm but they tend to follow a general pattern.

Yes, I could use the schedule for your 35-night QM2 cruise next January. That would be very helpful if you wouldn't mind posting the dates of the gala evenings and their themes (if any) for that voyage here. I've started 2025 dress code and theme schedules for each of the ships but I don't have much for QM2's 2025 schedule yet. Thanks for your assistance with that.

Edit to add: Cunard do not actually adhere to that maxim of 'two gala evenings per week' on longer voyages unless each week is sold as a separate voyage (such as a round trip crossing). It's typical for a two week cruise to have only three gala evenings. I do have to say though having only five gala evenings on a five week cruise is stretching it quite thin.

As you can see, there are only five galas on a 35 day trip; Cunard seem to cut back more and more on galas. The galas are one of the main reasons why we travel with them. I never would have booked this trip if they hadn't told us that there would be two per week, i.e. ten in total. I especially expected more during the Atlantic crossings, not seven sea days each way in smart attire!!

Blue marble, I just want to say thank you so much for doing this!  We haven’t sailed Cunard in almost twenty years and hadn’t realized they were doing themed nights—how fun!  Your efforts in compiling this are much appreciated 😊

I updated the QM2 document yesterday to reflect the changes to the world voyage itinerary rerouting QM2 around Africa for the return to Southampton. It's unlikely they will hold a gala evening on that date now, so I have predicted that gala evening will be moved to 14 April.

I don't like to assume changes to the schedule like this. I also realize updating the dress code schedule for this itinerary change is low on Cunard's to-do list right know as it should be. An update about this. I learned elsewhere that yesterday, 10 April, was a gala evening on QM2. My prediction that the gala evening originally scheduled for 12 April (now a port day in Cape Town) would be moved to 14 April was incorrect. I updated the QM2 2024 Dress Code and Theme Schedule document to reflect this adjustment to the QM2 gala evening schedule.

Does anyone know what the gala night themes will be for 23 Dec and 31 Dec for QM2 on the Caribbean voyage M501?  They have remained theme-less on the schedules even after the April update.  Many thanks

Gala evenings do not always have themes. It is a bit unusual for 23 December to have no theme, but since they are following two days later with the Red & Gold theme for Christmas Day, that may have something to do with it.

It has been typical the past few years for 31 December to have no theme. Prior to the shutdown, they typically scheduled 31 December with a "New Year's Eve Ball" theme. But since the restart of operations, they now only schedule the four standard themes Black and White, Red and Gold, Roaring Twenties and Masquerade (plus Ice White on QE Alaska itineraries). As a result, 31 December now ends up with no theme.

It's always possible they will add themes at a later date (or even once on board the ship). Please keep checking the daily calendar for your booking in My Cunard and let me know if you see any changes. It's quite possible those dates will have no themes though.
