I have booked a cruise with a casino drinks on us while you are playing in the casino. How does this work and how do the servers know if you have this?

You simply have to order a drink while in the casino. They don’t know when you order but when they come back with your drink you’ll sign the receipt and it’ll show it as zero for the charge.

Unfortunately you can’t buy it yourself directly from the casino bar ( if the ship you’re on has one). The free offer only applies when you order from one of the servers walking the floor.
If you tip a dollar or two you’ll find they tend to come looking for you more often.

It is coded to your folio.  Servers never enter prices.  They enter your folio number and your order.  The computer adds the cost and zeros it out if you have DOU and are in the casino.  It will insert price if you are outside the casino

Last year on Mardi Gras I was able to just walk up to the casino bar and get my free drinks, I did it all cruise long and no one said otherwise to me. I know it probably greatly depends on the bartenders but it's worth a shot to try. Worst they can say is no.

If you have Drinks On Us, you must be actively playing to get free drinks. It stands to reason if you're standing at the bar you're not actively playing.

If you have Drinks on Us Everywhere, then you can order drinks anywhere (well, everywhere except room service) on the house.

Well they still served me as I was standing at the bar, all cruise long and I had DOU while playing in the casino. So some bartenders will do it, you just have to ask.

You got away with it, good for you. I wouldn't count on it working again.

I stood and watched my wife play slots and they still served us.

Yeah and one time a third strip of bacon stuck to the tongs at the buffet (thankfully, the bacon had awoken from the slumber of bacation) and I ate like a king that day.

That person is pretty salty about others getting free drinks in a way they clearly don't approve. Sorry we're not all boy scouts mz-s! Haha, live a little, and lighten up 😜

I also had the DOU in the casino only, but was able to get drinks at the bar from the

bar tenders, I got to know them, and they knew me, plus good tips help, lol

Oh absolutely! I make sure to give them a good tip for each drink. A person I met at the spa on my last cruise told me to just walk up to the bar, she said she does it on every cruise and rarely has an issue.

No harm in trying 🙂

You are right, they will usually give you the drinks, especially if they know you had been playing

in the casino, most of the servers get to know me, and I could just be walking thru the casino

and they will ask me if I want a drink,

Who cares what that person thinks. They hate carnival but gets upset over some free drinks...😝

Easy to do when you actually have CHEERS or DOU-Everywhere.  Otherwise, not that easy.

Thanks.
We just got off the Miracle and we ended up deciding to just purchase the cheers package because even though we do spend a lot of time (and money lol) in the casino I didn’t want to rely on sitting at a slot waiting for a server to walk by. And the Miracle doesn’t have a bar in the casino.

But definitely if we book a cruise on a ship that does have a casino bar I will try your approach. I find most bartenders on Carnival to be fun, outgoing and willing to work with you as you flirt with getting around the technicalities.  And a couple of bucks each drink helps to encourage them to be part of the game. Lol
