jdk-atlga Posted November 1, 2023 #1 Share Posted November 1, 2023 Greetings: My wife and I will be on the SB Venture in April/May. We are also "consistent/persistent" afternoon tea people (rarely missing it on board - we tend to work our daily schedule around it (sad, but true)). Do the expedition ships still have the afternoon tea or are we all to be too busy/occupied with the other activities? Thanks in advance... Best, jdk There is no such thing but on deck6 there is bar open 06.00-18.00 where you can have tea and small sandwiches and cookies (and ice cream :-)). So it should do the job. Of course if you are very particular about your tea just bring your favorite.. Edited November 1, 2023 by Khareef

The ones served for breakfast were really terrible...So I would get coffee first on the square and then breakfast on the Colonnade 🙂 But I guess it depends on who is the barista. jdk-atlga Posted November 1, 2023 Author #5 Share Posted November 1, 2023 Hi Khareef: I'm probably one of the few people, even though I'm in my late 60s, who does not drink coffee. Tea, on the other hand, I swill like there is no tomorrow... Best, jdk
Rare markandjie Posted November 1, 2023 #6 Share Posted November 1, 2023 (edited) We had afternoon tea on the Venture over the summer. But I don't think it happened every day. jdk-atlga Posted November 2, 2023 Author #11 Share Posted November 2, 2023 Fantastic - One less thing to stress about (lol). Now, about getting into/out of the zodiacs (not carrying the tea, of course). I/we are really looking forward to our trip in less than 6 months. Rare markandjie Posted November 3, 2023 #12 Share Posted November 3, 2023 @jdk-atlga just happened to find this video on YouTube that shows a few brief images of the tea service just before/around the 1 minute mark. https://youtu.be/un17vkOoKWg?si=_Jrd34_TXr_vJyb9
rearseatpilot Posted November 9, 2023 #13 Share Posted November 9, 2023 In July on the Venture they only served afternoon tea occasionally. They told us there was too much wastage with serving it every day, as hardly anyone turned up.
Aexboeingdriver Posted January 20 #14 Share Posted January 20 We did an Iceland - Greenland cruise in June on the Venture. They only had afternoon tea on sea days.

As a follow-up question, did you have "sea days" tea because it was only offered then or was it that you were too busy on regular days to partake? I'm hoping for the latter option. 3 months away for us... Best, jdk

Best, jdk I mean you have a bar on the Square (DECK6) where you can get tea/coffe and mini sandwiches and cookies and ice cream every day until 5pm or 6pm (I forgot the exact time) so you can always have your afternoon tea and snacks even on excursions days if you wish so. So you are well covered on that any day.
Aexboeingdriver Posted January 21 #17 Share Posted January 21 (edited) It was only offered on sea-days. Not sure what the reasoning was for it, but it was well attended. We also like to plan our days around afternoon tea. Cheers Edited January 21 by Aexboeingdriver
BasandSyb Posted January 21 #18 Share Posted January 21 Perhaps because fewer staff on board to divert to service? It does cut across staff rest periods.
