Another B2B question

We've always done B2B's where we had the same room.  This cruise we will have to move to a different cabin.  I've read that the cabin stewards will move your stuff so......do I pack up my stuff?  do I still need to be out of my cabin by 8:30?  how soon do I get access to my new cabin?  TIA

Second Cruise - Change of Stateroom
If you need to change staterooms for the second cruise, the Guest Services Desk will send a Luggage Service team member to your stateroom to assist in moving your luggage to your new stateroom. This needs to be taken care of in the morning during debarkation and prior to the start of embarkation for the second cruise.

It evidently is a little different depending on the ship (I say this because I got several different answers when I asked this question several months ago.  Like you I normally have the same cabin on both legs, but had to switch on the last one. 

 

I asked my cabin steward - he said that he would move everything for me and I could leave some things on hangars.  He had never heard of a luggage team from Guest Services. Later I heard that the new cabin steward moved everything so who knows.  I wanted to give an extra tip for whoever it was so I ended up tipping both lol. 

 

I was allowed in the cabin right away to move my luggage and hang up my clothes.  The steward was very nice and told me he would clean my cabin first thing and I would be able to have access by 10:00.  It's a pain having to move, but it wasn't as bad as I though it would be.  Just ask your cabin steward what you should do - he/she should be able to answer all your questions.

If the ship has to zero out, meaning all passengers have to get off before new ones can get on, you will receive a letter telling you when/where you are to meet all the other "in transit" (that's what people staying on from 1 cruise to another are called) passengers. Someone from the ship will be there to mark you off a list and give you your new key cards (you will keep your old one).

Then you have a choice - you can walk with group to scan off the ship (using your old card) and clear passport control and scan back on the ship (using the new card) at which point you're free to roam around the ship as you please. Or you can scan off (with your old card) and go ashore staying off as long as you like so long as you're back onboard by the All Aboard time listed (usually 30 min - 1 hour before sail away).

The port you're at and where you originally boarded the ship determines if the ship has to be zeroed out.

This is the letter we received during our B2B in Sept on Venezia; it was a Canadian cruise out of NYC and had to zero out. One thing to note that was not clear in the letter, it didn't say ALL passengers had to meet up, but we did.

This cruise we stayed in same cabin. When changing cabins, we just packed the small stuff, cabin stewards moved luggage, misc bags and hangers.

I hadn't thought about that 'zero out' thing before @Haljo1935. We've done 2 B2Bs. In Miami we were escorted down into the terminal as a group. In Dover we simply got our new keys in the theater at our convenience and had free access to the ship. I really like it when we don't have to change cabins. That's almost a deal point for us now.
