thepla Posted November 7, 2023 #1 Share Posted November 7, 2023 Hi I prepaid gratuities because I had an Amex promo and needed to spend extra money to qualify for promo. If my upgrade bid gets accepted will royal reverse charge on card and rebill new amount? This would most likely claw back membership rewards points. Assuming you are going to a suite where the grats are more than your current cabin, you may not get charged anything extra at all. If anything, you'll get a bill for the diff.
gail-s Posted November 8, 2023 #3 Share Posted November 8, 2023 We went from a Jr Suite to an Owner's Suite on a Royal Up bid after we had made our final payment. We were not charged for the higher gratuities.
The Scurvy Pirate Posted November 8, 2023 #4 Share Posted November 8, 2023 Last fall I won a royal up for a JS to owners and they billed the additional gratuity on my credit card as part of the entire upgrade price. Although it appears no experience is similar (typical for RCI) I doubt they will cancel and then re-bill the gratuities. Also, in my case, I had pre-paid my gratuites and before the cruise the base gratuity price was increased. My royal up gratuties were calculated at the original lower rate and not the "new" higher price that were in effect at the time of the royal up.
