tjevans Posted June 9, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 9, 2004 I think it depends on the port. However, I believe the "official" times that boarding begins are around 1:00 for most ports. That being said, you can usually start the process before the official time. For example, in New Orleans, we arrived at 10:30 and were onboard by 12:30; the "official" time for boarding began at 1:00. serene56 Posted June 9, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 9, 2004 For a first time cruiser you shuold know that a boat is called a ship. (LOL We were at the piers about 10:30. On the ship by noon. Your documents will tell you 2pm or so. GroupCruiser Posted June 9, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 9, 2004 They'll let you board as soon as it's cleaned up from the last voyage, usually 12 or 12:30. All of the brouchures say 1:30 to 2 pm. If you look at the Capers for the first day, they say the buffet, bars, and so on, all open at Noon. There's got to be a reason there. I think they say 1:30 or 2 just in case there is a problem with someone at debarkation or with the ship that has to be taken care of, and boarding has to be delayed until then. If that's the real published time, nobody can complain if it really takes until then. They're not going to let hundreds of people stand around in the terminal when they can be on board trying out their Sail & Sign on the drink of the day. We try to be the first ones in line. Let the fun begin.
DreadPirateRobert Posted June 9, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 9, 2004 I try to get on board as early as possible. You can eat, get unpacked and get just enough alcohol in you to make the muster drill fun. Windjammer Fantome May 1988 ? dispatch64 Posted June 10, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 10, 2004 Tracie like others have said, get there before the info from Carnival says so you can have some time to explore, grab something to eat and drink, your cabin may not be ready as soon as you board but you can leave your carryons there, and come back later, have a great time 02/20/2005 W Carib cruise on Valor OCEANIC 9/86 FANATSY 5/97 SMOKE FREE PARADISE 9/2003 Carnival Valor <IMG
