Maya Chan vs Krazy Lobster vs other beach clubs with young kids

I have read through four or five pages now.  We will be visiting Costa Maya in April 24.  I understand one is AI and one is not.  In all honestly, we are open to either or.  We are leaning towards Maya Chan due to all the positive reviews but haven't read many reviews of families with young kids.  Don't really want to stay at the port or go to the water park.

I haven't been to any of the other beach clubs, but loved Maya Chan and will return in February.  Having said that, I probably wouldn't take my young kids there, even though I know people do.  The water isn't the traditional clear blue they are used to, and it's just a more laid back vibe than my children would have enjoyed when they were younger.
