Did anyone arrange and take a private local tour in Tangier?

We have waited on our friends and they are last minute planners.. that is not going to work for us.  Already many of the Tangier tours that the ship has are booking up.  We are hoping to plan our own tour for the 6 of us but would like to go with one that perhaps someone has already used and was happy with.  Any suggestions would be great. Our trip is not till July but it all goes so quickly. Thanks

We will be there in November and are trying to book something as well. 

 

Any help about locations, what to see, where not too go, would be very helpful.

Long time since we sailed into Tangier (on a ferry) but unless things have changed you'll be approached by locals offering to be your guide, they do carry ID and many are students.

They charge peanuts, and after you've declined a dozen or so you'll realise that life is easier if you agree to use one who seems to be friendly & helpful - having a guide will stop you from being hounded for the rest of the day.

They charge very little but make their money from places where you spend money. If you don't spend much, do the decent thing & give him a reasonable tip.

 

First place, right by the harbour, is the souk (bazaar), a maze of little alleyways and shops. If you don't choose to have a guide and get fed-up with being hounded you can escape into the cool serenity of a western-style hotel in the souk for a quiet beer or coffee.

Sorry, long time ago & I don't recall the other places but it was an interesting and inexpensive day.

Euros are widely accepted (and easier to figure value-for-money), I don't know about cards
