While we haven't done an Alaskan cruise we have done a lot of research so that we would be prepared when we decide to go. All the major cruise lines go there mainly between May and September. HAL and Princess have been there the longest and have many options for cruise and land tours combined which is the best way to see all that Alaska has to see. As I mentioned you are pretty much limited to going between May and September. This is one cruise where a balcony would probably be worthwhile since a lot of what you will be seeing is scenery and much from the ship.

You may want to check out the port of call board for Alaska for lots and lots of information on this cruise.

Have a great next cruise.

No best time. First you need to determine how long you have and if you want a one way or round trip Cruise. For interior Alaska travel you want after June 1 if you want to get far enough into Denali park. June overall is good with weather and long days. But my clear preference is mid/late August, great wildlife, fall colors, decent daylight, possible northern lights. :)
