cruisnfool Posted December 12, 2023 #1 Share Posted December 12, 2023 I understand the platinum insurance covers 90% of eligible refunds but what about the airfare? We plan to book with HAL. my concern is if we have to cancel the cruise and I receive a refund from HAL do I get my air refunded?
YourWorldWithBill Posted December 12, 2023 #2 Share Posted December 12, 2023 Certain credit cards cover everything booked, but only if there is a reason. American Express platinum, for example, covers 100% cancellation and a big amount of medical coverage, and you can add additional medical for about $64. But it doesn't cover "cancel for no reason," so if that's what you need, you have to have something else, which might not include airfare.
crystalspin Posted December 12, 2023 #3 Share Posted December 12, 2023 If you use FlightEase (HAL air), my understanding is that the amount to pay for cancellation protection will be more, but it will by covered. I have not done this, so I don't know at what point this is levied. Someone should be along with experience.
retird Posted December 12, 2023 #4 Share Posted December 12, 2023 This may be of some help it is in the FAQs on HAL site: Are my airfare and pre- and post-packages protected as well? Yes. If you purchased Holland America Line's Flight Ease Plan and/or our pre-/post-packages, you'll get 80% of your air and package cancellation fees refunded when canceling up to 24 hours prior to the start of your scheduled travel (90% with CPP Platinum when canceling right up to the start of your scheduled travel). Any Future Air Credit generated by the airline will be owned solely by Holland America Line and cannot be redeemed.
