Ferry to st johns

I had ,on some other sites, reviews of excursions to St John's and the issue in a couple was that there was a very strong oil or gas smell that got some folks sitting inside ill for hours.

Now these reviews were about 3 or 4 months ago.

Has anyone experienced that,or do I figure it was mechanical issue, that has been resolved

Thanks

Ship excursions or the public people ferry? The ship excursions may use more than one ship, but I was on one very old smelly ship, but can't remember the name. I thought that one had been replaced.

It would help if you know the name of the smelly ship.

It's a long way to St John's from St Thomas no wonder they felt ill 😂   Now St John is relatively close and takes about 15-20 mins by ferry from Red Hook and 30-45 (depending on ocean conditions) from Crown Bay so not sure why they would have been inside for "hours" on any ferry.
