air purifier/asthma/cigarette smoke smelling rooms

I have asthma so Ive heard that I should take an air purifier with us on board. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good brand and one that would be good for a cruise? Has anyone experienced asthma symptoms from the rooms. I'm afraid they might be smokey since there isn't a no-smoking policy.

Are you sure that smoking is allowed in the rooms? I didn't see an ashtray in ours. I thought the only smoking areas were outside on the starboard side and one small area in the lounge. Smoking is not even allowed in the casino anymore.

 

I'm sorry I don't know about your air purifier questions.

SMOKING POLICY

 

Wind Surf: Cigarette smoking is allowed in the casino and on the starboard side of the lounge. Pipe and cigar smoking is allowed only on the deck.

Wind Star and Wind Spirit: Smoking is no longer allowed in the casino. Cigarette smoking is allowed on the starboard side of the lounge. Pipe and cigar smoking is allowed only on the deck.

 

Please note: Smoking is no longer permitted in any restaurants onboard Windstar ships.

 

I'm ususally pretty sensitive to the smell of cigarettes and cigars, and I don't recall noticing any residual smell in our cabin on the Wind Star.

 

But, I did see a small 'desktop' type of air filter on the Gaiam website. I don't know if this would be the type of thing you're looking for or not.
