General question about onboard credit

The on board credit is on your room account. So anything you use your room key card to pay for will go on your room account also and debit this credit. So essentially, anything you charge on the ship will go to this same account - even the casino if you charge your purchase for chips or tokens in the casino to your card.

This also goes for art auction, excursions, drinks, massages, gifts, etc. You basically have $500 to do any you want with. That is a great on board credit...have fun!!!

Be sure to use it all up on your cruise. It is not transferable to any future cruise. Normally this is easy to do, but $500 is quite a bit, you may have to book a couple of Princess excursions to use it all up.

Hi guys, thanks for your response. I was supposed to go on this cruise Febuary 11th, but due to a death in the immediate family i had to cxl. However a week before this happened, princess sent me a fax offering me to change my dates and they will upgrade me to a balcony from an inside and give me a 500.00 credit. Since i had no desire to change my dates i ignored the fax,but saved it. Then when i had to actually cxl my cruise 2 days before departure, i called the number on the fax and asked them if this special was still available. April 1st was available and so i changed it. I got lucky and thats how i got a balcony room and a $500.00 onboard credit.

You do not have to spend the entire amount while on the ship. I have the same deal (I moved from the 3-18 sailing) and I was told whatever amount was left over at the end of the cruise (if any) would be given to me. If I use my cc to secure my ship charges, then it will be credited to that cc, if I use cash to secure my ship charges I will get cash back.

This is what Richard at Princess told me last week.

We just returned from the Sea Princess and can confirm that whatever amount of onboard credit you don't use on that particular cruise is put on your credit card. They had us sign for it just before we disembarked and today it showed up on our Visa account!:D We are happy cruisers!
