I just found out that I am pregnant (about 6 weeks). We are sailing on September 19 on the Elation. Has anyone here sailed when they were pregnant and what was your experiance. I am really wanting to know. I will be in 20th week (4 months) during that time.

Thank you all so much!

I cruised 6 mos pregnant with my first daughter on a Sitmar cruise in 1982...the bartenders were great making me up all of these yummy non alchoholic drinks...how I miss good ole Sitmar. IMHO, they will always be the best in my book.

Congrats to you! I'm a little over 6 weeks myself, but cruising sooner (July 31). One thing that bothers me is that all my cute summer dresses probably won't fit me by that point! And no hot tub! Oh well...

I just returned home from a cruise at 18 weeks pregnant. We were on the Norwegian Dawn on the 11th deck with a balcony. I couldnt use our balcony the 1st night. It was a little rough out of NY and I fell asleep at 9:00 because I wasnt feeling that well. But the next morning I was fine.

The only thing I missed was the drinking. I would of loved to have a non-alcoholic frozen drink but I need to watch my sugar. Besides that It was a great trip. We were even sailing with our 3 year old who loved it as well... ENJOY!!

At 4 months you should be feeling pretty good. Most are over morning sickness and have gotten their energy back.

If you don't want sugary foo-foo drinks try virgin mary's - you get a serving of vegetables!

Enjoy your cruise

You need to look into getting some kind of trip insurance to cover medical expenses if you should have a pregnancy-related medical problem onboard. The ship's clinics are really not equipped to deal with these things, and you might need hospitalization via air travel. Also, bring a letter from your Doctor saying you are fit to travel. OMG, I just realized I'm sounding very pessimistic, and I truly don't mean to be! Just trying to help you cover all bases! Congratulations, and enjoy your cruise!

My wife was about 4 months along with our son on our last cruise. Other than missing her swim suit and alcohol, she did great. There wasn’t any problem at all. She just missed her figure. We have another trip scheduled next Valentines week; she’s been pregnant on the last two. (We found out the last day on the first Valentines week cruise.) We better not be on this next one! If you can stand it, a cruise is also a great escape after the kids arrive! Grandma and Grandpa took care of our oldest last year, and they will do the same in February for us. I know some parents who wouldn't even think about that and we are considering taking our oldest with us, since she will be old enough to participate in the children’s programs. However, our other Grandparents are talking about a Disney Cruise for the whole family when our youngest is old enough. We enjoy just being a couple, and it’s a perfect way to do that on a cruise. Can you think of a better way to pamper yourself? We do miss the kids towards the end of the week however.

I wouldn’t worry at all, you should be fine.

 • 1 month later...
Thank you everyone for all the wonderful Advice. I just received my second doctors visit where he went ahead and wrote a note. He says to have a blast because this is my first child and you never know what happens after birth.

If anyone has any other information it would be great.

Thanks!
