Can anyone please share any personal experiences with self disembarkation in Seward? Efficient and easy to get off?  We have a 6:00am arrival time in September on the Celebrity Summit, 1st time Celebrity cruisers and 1st time Seward for us, just trying to plan our transfer to Anchorage. Thanks!

We have disembarked in Seward several times, including Celebrity cruises.

Unless you experience really rough weather crossing the Gulf of Alaska the ship will be docked in Seward hours before the official arrival time.  The Seward cruise terminal is a warehouse like building.  You will simply walk off.  Our experience has been that the ship empties very quickly as the Alaska Rail transfer to the Anchorage airport is very popular.

Calling it a warehouse makes the building sound a lot bigger than it is. Imagine more like a small plane hanger. The hardest part of disembarking will be the elevator from your floor to the gangway. You walk maybe 100m outside and through the building and you’re done. The question is what are you planning after? Are you staying in Seward or taking a transfer? The port area is dirt and not so great of a walk into town if you have rolling luggage especially. There is a free shuttle into town but I’m not sure what the hours are for that.

Planning on taking the motor coach transfer to Anchorage, arranging flights home now.  I just assumed that to make the early bus we'd have to do self disembarkation.

Thanks all for answering, very helpful

There are some big wood benches if you have to wait for your bus. I got off at 6 and had to wait a little for the first bus.
