Uncollectable Charge

Recommended Posts

My Mum's profile & cruise card was linked to my debit card, as I was the Cruise Captain & set it up so she wouldn't have to pay for anything. Half way through the cruise she linked her own debit card at one of the kiosk, despite my objections & made few purchases. Day or so later she received a letter in our room to say they weren't able to debit her card. Presume her bank put a block on it. We went to the kiosk & transferred some money onto her cruise card directly from her debit card. We then went to the service desk, so that they can take the outstanding charges from her onboard credit on her cruise card. We were told if there are any further issues that they'll let us know on the last morning. She ended up using her cruise card for few extra purchases by the end of the trip. No letter was received on the last morning & no further requests were received or advised, so we figured all was ok.

I've just received both hers & my own statements. Mine is all good, as they debited my card throughout the cruise periodically. Hers has an 'uncollectable' charge at the bottom of it for the outstanding amount she spent. Presume once again her bank didn't allow debit. How do I go about settling this amount for her?
Thank you!

I assume there are not payment options on your mother's statement?

I'd ring the cruise line. They can probably take payment over the phone using your debit or credit card. If not, I'm sure they will give you options.

Thanks for replying. No payment options, seems just like a run down of what was deposited, debited & purchased. I'll give them a call, however, the 'uncolectable' might be the initial charge they couldn't debit, just in reverse, so instead at the of top of the page they itemised it at the bottom. Just confusing, as I don't see the final payment taken out, like it shows on mine. I'll call them on Monday & double check. Thanks again!
