Beachfrog Posted February 15 #1 Share Posted February 15 We are hoping to get a day pass at the Chogogo Resort when we arrive in April. Would like to try snorkeling for the first time! I’m assuming their dive shop rents equipment. Any idea on cost? Is a snorkel and mask enough, or do I need fins as well? Thanks!
Katefromupstate Posted February 15 #2 Share Posted February 15 There is no rental shop there. There are many dive shops on the island that rent masks, fins and snorkels for about $8 per piece, or $24 per person. If you have room in your suitcase, better to bring your own, since it is high season and a lot of equipment is rented by the week by divers and snorkelers staying on the island in hotels. Remember to bring water shoes, our beaches are rocky. If you have never snorkeled before, you might want to join a snorkel tour that provides the equipment and instruction. best of luck, Kate

cruisinlawn Posted March 12 #4 Share Posted March 12 We plan to take a taxi to Chogogo on our cruise stop. In the afternoon, is the return back to the ship walkable? It appears to be about a 35-45 minute walk along the beach and then along a roadway. Or, would we be better suited to take a taxi back? TIA. cruisinlawn Posted May 10 #9 Share Posted May 10 42 minutes ago, z_cruisers said: What time did you arrive? We were only ship as well, apprx 3200 pax. I think they can only accommodate 1 per day. We arrived in port 8a, took our time and taxi to resort, $15, about 12-14 minute ride. Arrived 944a, two adults, no problem. Though sign was already posted that they were sold out of kid's passes for the day. I think they consider and count the kids staying on property aa well and limit the total #. Next visit, we would plan to arrive sooner if possible, their office opens 8a local time. We did not snorkel though several were out doing so. I believe you'll need your own equipment but can contact office prior, they were very responsive leading up to our visit. They do have an onsight dive shop there but I know nothing about it. The resort is not fancy but it is nice, quiet, relaxing and has all that we needed. $25 pass gets you in and includes $10 bar/restaurant credit..which was one drink each and tasty at that. Hope this helps, enjoy!
