Excursion reviews

I recently read a very detailed excursion review for the Australia/New Zealand cruise and I thought it might be a good idea to start an excursion review thread.  This poster gave the following information:

Which cruise they were on

City and Port Location

Shuttle bus info, if applicable

Public transportation info, if available

Name of excursion and whether it was a Viking excursion, another company's excursion, or a DIY excursion

Brief detail of the excursion and how they liked it.

 

Would a thread like this work?

That's a good idea; I would add the name of the local guide, where applicable; that might be useful if it's a tour in a smaller place where there aren't lots of possible tour guides. Also add:

 

- food included

- length of tour

- time of year (the same tour can vary depending on the season)

- Viking's excursion charge per person

I suppose, but I typically look in the various boards for each port for that information. I do try to leave reviews and information though, and be as detailed as possible, to help others decide.

Please give us all the details you can on the New Zealand and Australia excursions. That would be so helpful

Personally I think that a thread for this kind of discussion would be so huge and long and go off topic so frequently that the discussion would end up about airlines and lost luggage as soon as someone mentions that in a response...  Even if the response was initially about an excursion.

 

My preference would be for CC to look at opening a sub-forum for each cruise line's excursions and that when you post you post about the specific cruise name/itinerary, and the full name of the excursion.  One post per excursion.

V included shorex:  Dependent on quality of guide.  Have had some really terrific guides -- knowledgeable, personable.  And some not so.
