LEMJMcC Posted February 22 #1 Share Posted February 22 Our July cruise on Quantum is slated to be in Endicott Arm on day 5. Royal offers an "Endicott Arm Fjord & Glacier Explorer" excursion that leaves from the ship. Are there other private excursion options that would pick us up from the ship, or is RCI the only game in town for this? Thanks.
wolfie11 Posted February 22 #2 Share Posted February 22 No other excursions and yes, RCI is your only option. 1
Rare Coral Posted February 23 #3 Share Posted February 23 No other excursions. If you don't go on the excursion, you will view the glacier/fjord from the ship. Generally, the ship's excursion should get closer and better views.
LEMJMcC Posted February 23 Author #4 Share Posted February 23 Thanks to you both. I bit the bullet and booked it through RCI...
oaktreerb Posted February 24 #5 Share Posted February 24 Holland America has offered the Tracy Arm small ship excursion in the past on some of its ships. It shows as a 30 minute “service call”. You transfer from your cruise ship to a smaller boat to go into Tracy Arm fjord and at the end of the excursion you meet your ship in Juneau. I recall recently that someone was comparing prices and HAL was cheaper. Tracy Arm and Endicott Arm are in the same area and ships who can’t access one will sometimes sail into the other. If Tracy Arm is not accessible, the ship may divert to Endicott Arm. Endicott Arm is much more accessible (less twisty). Usually if Endicott Arm is not accessible, the glacier day is skipped. A ship rarely is scheduled for Endicott Arm and switches to Tracy Arm. I can't think of a report of such.
